Thankful for her || S. Alexandra
Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful. When I look back on these photos which were taken in August, I have a lot to be thankful for. S. Alexandra is fierce, and little, and courageous. These photos were a creative project for both of us: for me an outlet where I could practice my composition, lighting, and design, and for her a keepsake in time. I'm simply thankful for her. Back in August she was in on the brink of major life change. Leaving a town she grew to love, moving back to the big city. Starting a new job that seemed to have more questions and uncertainty than answers, and saying goodbye to loved ones who were moving away. I could relate, as I've experienced similar things myself. Change feels hard in the moment, yet when I look back I can see how her faith, perseverance, and reliance upon her God, led her through. Gracious uncertainty it's called. I'm thankful for change.
As I get older I'm realizing there are several kinds of friendships. There are acquaintances, classmates, work friends, family friends, and kindred spirits. Being in your twenties you experience constant change, and thus relationships are always developing. I'm learning to accept this as a life expectation, it makes these transitions easier. Overtime my friendship with S. Alexandra has transitioned through a few of those categories. So far it's survived a lot of change in both our lives. I'm thankful for friendship.
